The right to work and to fair working conditions is a fundamental human right. It is the job of the Equality and Human Rights Commission to enforce the Equality Act and to encourage compliance with the Human Rights Act – equal access to (and equal treatment in) work is, therefore, very much their business.


Rebecca Thomas, Head of Employment Policy at the EHRC, told the Global Equality and Diversity conference about the legal framework regarding dual discrimination – the laws exist but are poorly enforced and undermined by case law. She makes the case for tackling intersectional issues and dual discrimination at work.
